Content description
An account of the siege of Phalsbourg in 1814, narrated in the first person by Moïse, an iron merchant from the town's Jewish quarter, who recounts the blockade of the fortress during the French campaign to a younger listener. The volume also contains a second work not announced on the title page: Le Capitaine Rochart, a military tale, on pages 317 to 335. Le Blocus ends on page 315. Both titles belong to the Romans nationaux, the series in which Erckmann and Chatrian told the story of the Revolution and the Empire from the viewpoint of the ordinary people of Alsace and Lorraine.
