Content description
An essay in political philosophy written in the wake of the First World War. Maeztu criticizes the principles of authority and liberty as foundations of the modern State and proposes replacing them with the principle of function: society would be ordered by the objective functions each person performs, not by power or individual desire. The work, the author's own Spanish version of his "Authority, Liberty and Function in the Light of the War" (London, 1916), sets out his guild socialism and his turn toward traditionalist thought.
