Content description
Apocryphal continuation of Don Quixote, published in Tarragona in 1614 under the name of Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda, a year before Cervantes sent his own second part to press. It relates the third sally of Don Quixote and Sancho from Argamesilla towards the jousts at Saragossa. The edition reproduces the text collated with the 1614 original and is preceded by a long study by Marcelino Menéndez y Pelayo, who declares it the sixth Castilian edition and traces its critical fortune. The volume closes with an appendix on the books of chivalry and a table of chapters.
